Yilan attractions: Where to go in Yilan

Yilan, located in northeastern Taiwan, is renowned for its stunning coastal shores. We recommend you three of the Yilan attractions that you should visit.

1. Lanyang museum

The museum exhibits the rich history and cultural heritage of Yilan, spanning from its natural ecosystems, geological aspects, and the indigenous people who once inhabited the region to its contemporary society. The museum's distinctive design draws inspiration from the cuesta landforms frequently observed along Taiwan's northeastern coastline, as well as local elements such as Guishan Island and the coral reefs found near Wushi Harbor. There are two exhibition halls. The ticket price for main hall is 100NT, while minor hall ticket is 50NT.

2. Lucky Arts Crayon Factory

It's a unique establishment located in Su'Ao township, Yilan County. This facility is purposefully crafted to serve as an interactive hub for children, offering them the opportunity to engage in creative arts and crafts. Kids can create their personalized art supplies, such as markers and crayons in the form of Taiwan, along with enjoying a range of do-it-yourself activities like face painting, porcelain painting, chalk production, and watercoloring. Children aged 3 years and older are required to purchase a ticket, which is priced at 250 NT, and the experience typically takes approximately 2 hours. This includes four different DIY activities, so we recommend setting aside 2-3 hours for the entire experience. It's important to note that the attraction closes at 17:30, and the last call for DIY tickets is at 16:00. In essence, it's a haven for young children to explore their artistic talents. And, having an enjoyable experience involves riding on one of the lengthiest sleds.

3. Guishan Island

Among Yilan's notable attractions, Turtle Island stands out as the symbol of Yilan and embodies its unique spirit. It got its name because its shape resembles a turtle. Guishan Island stands as the sole active volcano in Taiwan and is the only island with residents in the Yilan region. Due to the increasing trend of whale watching, Guishan Island has emerged as the most sought-after tourist destination.

You have the option to buy a ticket at the harbor or make an advance online reservation through platforms like klook.com or kkday.com
